The Upper Hand
This picture shows a submissive lady
in the ceremony of self flagellation, a practice
performed by a number of religious sects. The subject
matter, though a little strange to some, strikes
a chord in those who are drawn to that life style.
This was painted as an illustration for a book
on the subject of BDSM and religion.
I have never regarded this picture as in any
way sexist but rather as an expression of another
kind of love.
